Seniors crush Oamaru SKC
By Scott Cameron on Monday, 21 November 2016
The Union Senior side crushed the combined Oamaru St Kevins side by 9 wickets on one of the artificial's at St Kevins.
With the match being moved to St Kevins after heavy rain during the week, Oamaru SKC won the toss and elected to bat first. Never finding any substance or partnerships in their innings, they were bowled all for the paltry total of 91 in 35 overs. None of the batsmen made it past 19 with only three of them making double figures. For Union all bowlers took wickets with Dan Conlan (2-17), Brad Fleming (2-14) and Sam Bastin (3-26) took two wickets each.
Once again the veteran opening pair of Duncan Drew and Glynn Cameron gave their side a good start, putting on 48 before the loss of Drew for 16, caught of the bowling of Breen. Thomas Shields then combined with Cameron to make sure no further wickets were lost when the target score was surpassed, with Cameron (54*) bringing up his second half century of the season and Shields 11 not out.
Union now sits second on the table being Waitaki Boys who had a victory over Albion on the other artificial wicket at St Kevins.
