The Union Cricket Club Senior team continues to be the trend setter with another dominant victory, this time against St Kevin's by 143 runs.
Early on the visitors looked to be in trouble after falling to 31-3 in the 9th over of the innings. Brad Fleming and Duncan Drew looked to solidify the innings before Fleming was caught behind for 23. Gary Singh then joined Drew at the crease and the two combined for a partnership that truly took St Kevin's out of the match. They put in 138 for the 5th wicket before Singh was bowled by Ben Kay for 56, his first half century for the club at senior level. With 7 overs left in the innings and the clubs two most experienced players at the crease (Glynn Cameron had joined Drew) they then led their team to 249/5 at the completion of 50 overs. Cameron was not out on 9, and Drew 112 not out - his 9th senior club century equalling the club record.
In its chase St Kevin's never really looked like chasing required total thanks to some tight Union bowling. Batting just under 46 overs, there was an incredible 12 maidens, 8 of these coming in the first 20 overs. The main wicket taker was Garry Singh (5-13) while Jordy Whyte (2-17) took two wickets. Singh taking his first senior five wicket bag.
