Gordon came to Union from the WBHS First IX as an opening batsman. He earned the nickname Lulu after certain mannerisms that closely resembled David Gower, especially his trade mark flourishing cover drive. As his cricket progressed his batting settled into the middle order, and his bowling gained prominence with his nippy little medium pacers. Gordon represented North Otago over a number of seasons.
