The Union senior team are still undefeated in the Dick Hunt Holiday competition after a 80 run win against Valley at the Weston Domain.
After losing the toss and being forced to bat Union was all out in the 44th over for 191. Glynn Cameron top scored with 46 and combined in a 47 run partnership with Todd Sidon (20) for the 5th wicket. The Union tail 'wagged' with Neil Louw and Phil Crossan putting on 40 for the ninth wicket before Crossan was out for 20. Louw was not out on 17 at the completion of the innings.
Valley lost the wicket of opener Nick Webster with the score on 20, and then lost the next 5 for the addition of only 20 runs as the Union opening bowlers Crossan and Dan Conlan ripped through the Valley line-up. Craig Direen was the only Valley batsman who looked comfortable on the difficult wicket top scoring with 30 not out. With Louw taking the final wicket of the innings Valley was all out for 111, Crossan taking 4-48 and Conlan 3-36. Cameron backed up his gusty batting effort with 1-9 while Louw finished with 1-17.
