A weakend Senior team had a 40 run win over Valley at Weston yesterday, in a high scoring game.
Missing key players due to the Hawke Cup Challenge, it was a team effort as they reached 238 in their 50 overs. Kane McLachlan was the top scorer for the innings notching up 57, Brad Fleming made 28, Blake Martin 25, Craig Campbell 24 and Happy Singh scored 38* in the final overs. For Valley Phipps took 3-52 and Stirling 2-52.
Valley looked to be in for chance early in their innings but runs started to dry up after the 20th over which made them start to struggle. Toby Johnson was aggressive in his innings of 51 but by then it was too little to late as when they finished their 50 overs they were 40 sort of Union's total. Johnson was backed up by Webb who scored 40 not out, while Eldridge (30), Cam Leckie (25) and Phips all made scores of 20 or more. For Union Fleming took 3-27, while Duncan Drew took 3-20
With the win Union remain at the top of the Borton Cup standings.
