Chasing what looked to a good total Union looked to be in trouble at 3-67 but then Marcel McKenzie and Neil Rushton combined for their 125 run unbroken stand for the 4th wicket. McKenzie finished with a fine century being 102 not out, and Rushton was 50 not out when surpassing the Oamaru total.
