Union stayed top with a 80 run win against Waitaki Boys at Milner Park.
Batting first Union made a good start reaching 42 without loss, but then lost opener Glynn Cameron (18) and then Gavin Strachan (4) with the score on 49. A good partnership between Paul Johnston (55) who recorded his first senior half century and Duncan Drew saw Union move to 99, but then lost Johnston who was stumped by Scott Simpson. Mark Wilson soon followed with a duck with the score on 105. Captain Peter Cameron, in an attempt to raise the run rate, then promoted Craig Campbell (6) who hit a straight six but was caught behind soon after. Neville Donaldson who was promoted up the order as well batted well for his 37 and combined with Drew for a 70 run partnership. Peter Cameron scored a quick fire 17 not out, and Drew was left on 58, as Union made 207 of its 50 over's.
Due to some slow defensive batting and tight economical bowling Waitaki never really looked like challenging the Union total. Mark Wilson with his two wickets brought up 200 Senior career wickets, as Waitaki after 25 over's had scored only 60 runs. Sensing that the game was won Union then bowled some of its players that usually don't get that chance. Duncan Drew, more well known for his wicketkeeping, bowled six over's of left arm spin taking 3-15. Gavin Strachan, another who doesn't usually bowl in a game, took 1-5. The other wicket takers were Brendan Sidon (1-19) and Paul Johnston (2-12) .
