Gavin Strachan

Union moved back to the top position in the North Otago Senior Competition with a seven wicket victory over Albion at the Showground's.

Batting first Albion crawled to a total of 114 of its 50 over's. For Union Neville Donaldson picked up 4-20 of nine over's and opening bowler Mark Wilson took 3-17 of 14 over's. The other wicket takers were John Crombie (1-28) and Paul Johnston (1-17).

Needing to take wickets early, Albion soon had Union 2-22 after losing openers Glynn Cameron (16) and Paul Johnston (1). But a good third wicket partnership between Gavin Strachan and Duncan Drew meant that even when Union lost Strachan for 46, Union was completely in control of the match and won losing no further wicket. Drew scored 42 not out and Mark Wilson who had earlier preformed with the ball scored 7 not out including a massive six.
