Union qualified for its fifth Borton Cup final in a row with a 102 run victory against Oamaru at Awamoa Park.

Sent in to bat first Union was in trouble losing wickets in regular intervals and were 77-8 at one stage. This however was the start of a great fight back with Neville Donaldson (26) and Mark Wilson combining for a 81 run partnership, to leave Union with a defendable total of 164. Mark Wilson was by far the best Union batsman unbeaten on 68.

Oamaru was immediately on the back foot losing 4 wickets with the total on 14. They never recovered and were all out for 62. Paul Johnston took the remarkable figures of 5-4 including the last 3 Oamaru wickets in a hatrick. Brendan Sidon opened the bowling and bowled well for his 3-10. John Crombie (1-16) and Mark Wilson (1-10) were the other wicket takers.
