The Union Senior team came fourth in the Senior 20/20 Competition for 2014 after losing both games at Whitestone Contracting Centennial Park
After winning the toss and electing to bat first against Albion in the knockout round, Union's top order collapsed to be struggling at 31 for the loss of four wickets. It was left to the middle and lower order to put a defendable total on the board with Jake Greenslade (19), Chris Ware (18), Brad Fleming (16) and Dan Conlan (24) providing the bulk of the runs. Craig Robertson chipped in with 17 of 7 balls at the end of the innings, Union 126/9 at the completion of 20 overs.
Union got of to a good start taking the wicket of Kernahan early but Ben Cant then started to dominate the game. When Albion passed the required total in the 17th over, he had scored 87 runs in a total of 127. He was well supported by Paul Odell and Jeremey Smith.
In the 3rd/4th playoff Union once again won the toss and elected to bat. They got of to a very slow start with only 45 runs coming of the first 10 overs, they however still had 10 wickets in hand. Looking to accelerate, they moved the total to 123/3 at the completion of 20 overs. Duncan Drew (45) top scored for innings while Glynn Cameron (29) and Jason Todd (22) made good contributions.
Valley in its chase looked to be struggling but like the earlier game it was dominated by one player, this time Mark Broughton. Coming in at 48/4 he then went on to help his side to victory, being 40 not out when the winning run was scored on the final ball of the 20th over. Union suffered its narrowest defeat in 20/20 cricket, losing by 1 wicket.
