Despite a well judged century from Thomas Shields Union lost to Naseby by 40 runs at the Naseby Cricket Ground.
Naseby batted first and scored 273-7 in their 40 over's. For Union Easter Tour regulars Paul Johnston took 3 for 67 runs of his eight over's and Glynn Cameron took 2 for 56 of his eight over's. Nathan Mitchell took 1 for 48 and Chris Ware took 1 for 63 in his first Easter Tour match. Stu Dickinson, who was also playing in his first Easter Tour match, was unlucky not to have taken at least one wicket, finished with very economical figures of 0 for 26 of his seven over's.
Shields was by far and away the top scorer of the Union run chase but no others provided the much needed support to see Union through to the required total. Stu Dickinson, opening the innings, was the second top scorer with 28, while Nathan Mitchell recorded 15. Jason Brokenshire (11) and Chris Ware (10) where the only other Union batsman to record scores in double figures. Union falling short, in a good effort, by 40 runs with the last wicket falling on the last ball of the innings.
