An outstanding 10 wicket win over St Kevin's College before the rain set in has set Union up as the top qualifiers for the Borton Cup finals series.

With the lower grades games being cancelled, the only games to be played was the final round robin Borton Cup games. After winning the toss, Union elected to field aiming to get St Kevin's out for a low score and then quickly get the required total before the forecasted rain started. It all went to plan as the St Kevin's team were all out for the paltry 45, one of the lowest scores by the opposition in Union Cricket Club history. Captain Paul Johnston looked to be hitting form at the right time of the season taking his third hatrick for Union Seniors and finishing with 4-4, while Matt Cutt took 3-12.

Chasing the small total Union looked to give some batting practice to players but soon after the Union innings started the rain started to fall. Realizing that they need to score the runs quickly, Andrew McCulloch started to hit out playing an aggressive innings while Thomas Shields looked to give him the majority of the strike. Union had lost no wickets when they passed the target, McCulloch top scoring with 28 not out, while Thomas Shields was 8 not out. With the Oamaru game returning no result and Union gaining 10 points for the win, Seniors finished as top qualifier for the Borton Cup Finals and will play Valley at King George Park next week.
