Glynn Cameron stared in Union's 7 wicket Borton Cup final victory against Valley at Whitestone Contracting Oval taking 4 wickets and scoring an unbeaten 31.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Valley started slowly moving to 36-0 after 11 before the loss of Nick Webster, caught by Thomas Shields in slips, started a spectacular collapse that saw the top qualifiers lose 10 wickets for only 55 runs. After the loss of Webster, to the bowling of Philip Crossan, Glynn Cameron took two wickets in his first over as Union started to pile on the pressure. With the loss of the ninth wicket of Scott Kingan, Valley only had 63 on the board but a 29 partnership between Craig Direen and Hamish McKenzie gave Valley a more defendable total. Cameron was the star of the bowling taking 4 wickets in his ten over's and only conceding 14 runs while captain Paul Johnston took 3-27 of ten over's and Philip Crossan finished with 2-22 of 8.4 over's.
Union got of to a good start with both openers looking comfortable before the loss of Cromwell for 13 saw the loss of three wickets for the addition of only 2 runs and the total 24-3. Duncan Drew was then joined at the crease by Cameron and the two safely bought their team to the required total with an unbroken 69 run partnership. Drew was not out for 19, while Cameron topped of his great bowling effort earlier with 31 not out. For Valley North Otago rep David Simpson took 2-31 of his 9.4 over's.
This marks the 29th time Union has won the Borton Cup and its second season in a row caps of the 100th year of the Union Cricket Club
