The Union Cricket Club Senior team continued their winning ways in the Borton Cup competition beating St Kevin's by 6 wickets at the college's number two ground.

After winning the toss and electing to field, captain Thomas Shields decision looked to be a good one after Union's opening bowlers Chris Ware and Philip Crossan knocked the top of St Kevin's batting order. A partnership then formed between Gourlay and O'Connor which frustrated the Union side as they put on more than 70 runs for the 6th wicket. Some sharp fielding from Paul Johnston broke up the partnership when O'Connor was run out for 30. With Gourlay soon following for 50 the bottom order crumbled as the school side was all out for 153. For Union Ware and Crossan bowled superbly with Crossan bowling unchanged for his 2-26, while Ware finished with 3-25. Dan Conlan bowling first change was unlucky to not pick up more than his one wicket finishing with 1-28. Duncan Drew and Paul Johnston cleaned up the tail both picking up two wickets each.

For St Kevin's to have a chance against the in form Union batting line-up they had to take wickets early and it was player/coach Richard Turner who responded taking the wicket of Clarke in the first over. Jeremiah Shields and Duncan Drew then combined for 28 runs before Shields was caught for 3. At this stage of the game worriedly for St Kevin's wide's were starting to mount up. Sean Conlan was the next to fall, out lbw to Turner as St Kevin's looked to be bringing themselves back into the game. With the score at 73, Thomas Shields was out for 6, bringing Glynn Cameron to the crease to join Drew. The two in an unbeaten stand of 86 for the 5th wicket bought their side through to victory with Drew hitting a six to bring up victory, to move his total to 47 while Cameron was 31 not out.
