The Union Cricket Club Senior team pulled of a stunning 2 run victory in a top of table clash against Oamaru at Excelsior when a spectacular collapse saw 6 wickets fall for only 35 runs

Chasing 142 for victory, Oamaru looked to be set for a comfortable victory over their long-time rivals before Duncan Drew came on to bowl. At 104-3, Regan George and Gary Monahan had combined for a 60 run partnership and were making light work of the Union bowlers. Drew then broke the partnership, Monahan caught and bowled for 18 and soon he also had the wickets of Kieran Paterson (stumped by Sean Conlan), while George (stumped by Sean Conlan) and Khalil (lbw) were out in consecutive balls. Drew single handily bring his side back into the game. The next over, Ben Cant who was bowling superbly, clean bowled Ben Coleman for one and in the space of 9 over's, Oamaru were 132-8 still needing 10 runs for victory. Drew completed his 5 wicket bag in the next over, taking the wicket of Andrew Sewell for 2 and the last batsmen made his way to the crease. The next over from Ben Cant saw two runs taken, Oamaru 138-9. There was a change of bowler the following over with Drew being replaced with Dan Conlan. His first two balls were dot balls, while his third a leg taken, Oamaru inching their way to victory. The fourth ball was right on target, Selbie bowled for 0 and Union recording a victory by the narrowest of margins.

For Union, Drew finished with 5-35 of 7 over's, while Phil Crossan in his 99th senior game for Union took 2-53. Regan George was the top scorer of the innings with 45 including breaking one of the windows of the Excelsior clubrooms.

Earlier Union struggled to 141, with David Sewell showing some impressive form taking 4-9 including 6 maidens of his 10 over's. The away side looked like they might not even make it to 100 had it not been a 41 run 9th wicket partnership between the Cameron brothers that added a bit more respectability to the score. Stand-in captain Glynn Cameron lead from the front, batting 27 over's for his 38, while the Oamaru team bowled 40 wide's. Khalil took the last two wickets to finish with 2-11 of his three over's.

Union are now the sole team at the top of the table undefeated in Borton Cup matches this season.
