Union Scores Well
Monday, 10 December 1945

The outfield as dead and the wicket slow for the match between Union and Oamaru II on Saturday. Although W. Bee dismissed Spear with the first ball of the game Oamaru's success stopped there for the bowlers found the wicket unresponsive and the early batsmen satisfied to keep them out. Rawstorn made a patient 32, but, later, Doig 46, and Hunt 64, batted more freely and the score stood at 148 for five wickets when the latter was dismissed. The second half of the team was not so successful and the side was all out for 196. W. Bee, with four for 47 was the most effective bowler, though Borrows bowled very steadily his 10 overs costing only 10 runs for one wicket. Oamaru lost two wickets for 37 before the call of time.
