The Union Senior team had a win and a loss in the first week of Senior cricket in the weekend.

Playing two T20 fixtures to start the NOCA Senior Competition for 2012-13 they had a loss against Albion then a dominant win against Valley.

In the first game Albion won the toss and elected to bat first but got of to a bad start losing two wickets early to be 5-2 after two overs. However this brought in the hard hitting Brad Kernahan who was in an aggressive mood hitting the ball all around the park. When he was caught by Glynn Cameron of the bowling of Isaac Shields he had notched up 55 runs in 35 balls including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Albion then started to hit out with Scott Guyton scoring 35 runs in only 14 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes, his team making 146 in its 20 overs. For Union last years NOCA Senior bowler of the year Isaac Shields was difficult to get away taking 2 for 17 in his four overs.

Union started badly losing John Anderson and Jeremiah Shields early to leave them 20-2, then with the score of 27 lost the wicket of Sean Conlan as well. Duncan Drew and Thomas Shields then had a handy partnership of 26 before Drew (24) and Shields (18) departed in quick succession to leave Union at 64-5 with the required run rate increasing. Daniel Martin and Glynn Cameron then combined for the highest partnership of the game (60) that bought their team back into the game and with a chance of pulling of a victory that looked unlikely when they started together. With the required run rate hovering over 10, Guyton broke up the partnership taking the wicket of Cameron for 29 and completed the 19th over only conceding three runs. Kernahan bowled the final over and took the wickets of Ware and Johnston with Union finishing with 131-8 of their 20 overs, Martin 26 not out. Kernahan was the pick of the Albion bowling with his final figures of 3-18 of 4 overs.

Union won the toss in the second game and elected to bat. Jeremiah Shields (32) provided the anchor role in the innings while Duncan Drew was in an aggressive mood, his 45 runs of 28 balls. Sean Conlan (28) and Daniel Martin (22 not out) also put in some handy contributions with Martins score coming of 12 balls. Union finishing with 168-6 of its 20 overs, Andrew Fisher being the pick of the Valley bowlers taking 2-38 of fours.

After a bad start Valley never really looked like chasing down the required total. Ware got his side of to a great start taking 3-7 of four overs including a maiden. Paul Johnston (2-34) and Isaac Shields (2-10) took two wickets each as Valley were all out in the 14th over 78 runs short of Union's total.
