The Union Cricket Club Senior team celebrated Jeremiah Shields 100th game with a dominating 10 wicket over St Kevin's College.
Fielding first the home sent out a warning to its rivals knocking out the St Kevin's batsmen for only 57 runs. It would have been worse if number 6 batsman B. Flannery wasn't dropped early in his innings as he notched up 23 runs with 2 fours and a six. He combined with I. De Bryzer with a 29 run partnership for the sixth wicket as De Duyzer was the only other batsmen to reach double figures with the bat. For Union, Brad Fleming was 0-6 of his first over, then finished with 3-11 of his ten with 6 maidens. Fellow opener Glynn Cameron took 1-7 of his 6 overs and Isaac Shields took 1-13 of his 5 but it was veteran Paul Johnston, well supported by the other bowlers who ripped through the St Kevin's batting line-up. After having figures of 1-25 of 7 overs, he then proceeded to take 4 wickets for no runs in two overs as St Kevin's collapsed from 52-5 to 57 all out.
The Union openers, Jeremiah Shields and Antony Cromwell were steady in their chase as they romped through to a ten wicket win. Shields was 23 not out, while Cromwell was 22 not out.
