The Union Cricket Club is pleased to announce the completion of major project to add its match information and records database to the website. Previously researched and complied by club member Scott Cameron over the past 18 years, it contains match results and records from over 2750 games spanning from the clubs first season in 1909/10 to the most recently completed Easter Tour in March this year. With the addition of the database to the website it's believed to make it amongst the most extensive, if not the most extensive, for any cricket club website in the world.

In December 2013, Union changed it's website host due to an increasing amount of traffic to its website. A side affect was the change from 20MB of space to unlimited, which meant additional information could be added. With that in mind since August last year Scott Cameron had been processing the records getting them ready to be put on the clubs website, in most cases going back to the original scorebooks and newspaper match reports. He said "the match information database due to the way it's recorded its data only contained Union player and team performances with basic information on the opposition performance. Going back to the original scorebooks and match reports, where available, would allow the website to display a more complete report of the fixtures. For some of the senior games prior to 1939 we had the newspaper writeup of the games so these have been added as well."

Cameron was also quick to praise his sources mentioning ex Union club scorer/statistician Jim Rowell and the North Otago Archives. "Jim Rowell during his time with the club collected a number of scorebooks with some going back as far as 1952, this provided a great start in compiling the records. Any missing seasons since then and all seasons prior was done through looking through the old newspapers in the North Otago archives. Without Jim and the Archives this information would not be available." he said.

Union Cricket Club President Mike Ormandy said "a lot of work has been done to get the matches on the website. It provides a tremendous resource for club members and supporters to look team results over the years and individual player performances."
