The Union Senior team won the Dick Hunt Final for the 2012-2013 season by a solitary wicket at Awamoa Park in the weekend.

Albion had won the toss and elected to bat on a slow and low wicket to go with a very a slow outfield. The innings was dominated by Nigel Moriarty who top scored with 64 and batting the majority of the Albion innings. He combined with Ton Dwyer for a 53 run 8th wicket partnership in the final overs with Dwyer notching up 31 runs including 5 fours and 1 six. For Union, Duncan Drew ripped through the middle to late order, and in the process taking the wicket of Moriarty, finishing with 5-44 of his ten overs. Matt Lilley took 2-30 while Glynn Cameron was extremely economical finishing with 2-13 of his ten overs. Albion were all out in the 50th over for 181 in what was a very competitive total

Union started badly with opener Whitburn out in the first over of the innings, but this brought in Drew who looked to be in ominous form with the bat. He then dominated the next two partnerships with Jeremiah Shields and Sean Conlan before he was dismissed for 39 including 7 fours. Conlan then took more of an anchor role as the rest of the team looked to bat around him. He combined with Cameron for a 40 run partnership that put Union well on top but with his dismissal for 52 and the score at 148-6 Albion were right back in the match. At the other end of the wicket when Conlan was dismissed was Jake Greenslade. The new Union recruit then in a display of maturity beyond his 16 years looked to take up the role that Conlan had been providing and see his team through. Batting cleverly with the lower order and with good running between the wickets he helped inch his team closer to the required target. Union however suffered a mini collapse as they lost three wickets in the space of 8 runs leaving them at 171-9 and 11 runs still required. It was then a very nervous three overs before the runs were scored, Isaac Shields edging one between keeper and first slip, and a Union victory by the smallest of margins - 1 wicket. Greenslade was 30 not out when the total was passed.
