Union Cricket Club
Peter Cameron was made a Life Member of the Union Cricket Club on 1st July 2008. Peter joins this elite membership of 12x previous Life Members in the clubs 99 year history. Peter is the first Life Member since Dave Meikle in 1997, and joins Dave, Russell Payne, Ted Tempero and Bob Pile as Life members who are still actively contributing to the future of the club through committees and actions in 2008/09. Peter has been involved with Union CC for over 20 years, firstly as a player and into administration. He was the captain of the senior team for 113 matches, and was involved in 3x Borton Cup celebrations. Peter scored 5 centuries as a middle order batsman, and played 163 Senior games along with plenty more grade games. He started on the committee in 1995 before being elected to the Presidency in 1997, a post he held for 11 years before stepping down at the recent 2008 AGM. During his Presidency he became the club's Treasurer and has accepted to continue in this role for the club for the coming year. The leadership he displayed in his Presidency along with his fiscal intelligence has made Union CC clearly the strongest club in our region. Peter also serves as the Chairman of the NOCA, a post he has held for the last 5 years.
Since his elevation to life member of the Union Cricket Club, Peter was further rewarded for his dedication to cricket with an ICC medal in 2009. Only 50 of these were awarded in New Zealand and only 1000 worldwide. |
