Union maintained its lead in the Borton Cup competition with a 97 run victory against Albion at King George Park. Batting first after wining the toss Union made 196 after 50 over's. Opener Craig Wilson (27) and middle order batsmen Peter Rudduck (37) and Peter Cameron (20) both showed some good form with the bat, but it was Duncan Drew again who top scored in the innings. Duncan after his duck last week hit 1 six and 6 fours on his way to 69. Neville Donaldson hit out in the last few over's hitting 2 fours and 1 six in his 18.
Albion started badly in its runs chase losing opener Josh Gutsell for a duck in the second over of the innings and then losing other opener Craig McDonald (9) both to Craig Wilson. But it was when Albion lost 5 wickets for no runs that really set the game up for a Union victory. Albion lost Chris Booth (3) to a run out, then Chris Cunningham (28) who was caught by Jeremy Edmondston, Mike Pitches (0) was then bowled by Tony Moore, Paul Cartwright was then caught and bowled by Moore and then Bret Maxwell was bowled by Mark Wilson. Albion has a brief stand of 48 for the 9th wicket but by then it was to late as Union took the win and retained its lead in the Borton Cup.
