Union suffered a 13 run loss to Albion in the Dick Hunt Final at KGP on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to field Union had Albion in trouble at 5-60 with opening bowler Steven Ridley taking 3-16 of his first three over's, but a good 46 run 6th wicket partnership and a 52 run 8th wicket partnership brought Albion to a defendable 164. For Union Steven Ridley took 4-45, Nathan Hill took 3-19 and John Crombie took 3-27.
Chasing Albion's total Union collapsed to be 7-70 with only Duncan Drew (24) and Mark Wilson (10) reaching double figures, but a rear guard action took place to bring Union within victory. First a 44 run partnership between veterans John Crombie (16) and captain Peter Cameron took the score to 114, but with the loss of Crombie at 114 and Nathan Hill at 121 for 5, left Union 44 runs for victory and 1 wicket left. A determined Phil Crossan and Cameron batted through to 151 and looked to be cruising but in a very controversial decision by the umpire Phil Crossan was adjudged to be caught behind when it seemed he missed a Matt Tait delivery. With the loss of Crossan for 8, captain Peter Cameron was left on an unbeaten 30, and gave Albion a 14 run victory and the Dick Hunt Rosebowl.
