Brother of Peter Crombie and son of club patron Bevan Crombie. Former St Kevin's 1st XI player and North Otago representative. Started playing for Union Seniors primarily as a bowler but quickly developed into an all-rounder. Currently holds the record for best bowling figures in a match taking 15-54 against St Kevin's College's 1st XI on the 30th of October 1993 and has the 5th highest number of wickets for Union Seniors in a career. After a leg injury that left a promising rugby career by the wayside his bowling slowed down to a more fast medium but due to have a keen tactical mind was no less lethal taking more wickets than before his injury. Appearance's have been rare in the past couple of seasons but a good man to have in the team when the pressure is starting to rise. Self-describes his bowling style as "fast as F****".(Dec 2007) |
