In a game reduced to 45 over's due to wet weather Union won by 66 runs at Awamoa Park.
Union batting first made 204 of their 45 over's with opener Glynn Cameron (44), Ali Fanene (29) and John Crombie (29 not out) making good contributions to the Union total. But it was stand in captain Mark Wilson who top scored with 76 not out. He hit 3 sixes and 16 of his last 18 runs where all hit from 4s. For Oamaru only Stu Dean picked up more than 1 wicket finishing with a rather expensive 2-47 of 5 over's.
Oamaru never really looked in the hunt for a win batting very slowly and only making 138 of the 45 over's. All the Union bowlers proved to be very economical with Craig Wilson conceding only 23 runs of his 13 over's. The best bowler for Union was Paul Johnston who took 3-43 of his 13 over's.
Union is the only team to remain undefeated for the season and now has a clear lead in the competition after the first complete round.
