Union had a 78 run victory against St Kevin's on Saturday after batting first on a difficult batting wicket.

After heavy rain during the week, both teams where greeted to a very damp wicket. Union struggled to7-64 and then 8-78 before Glen Patterson (26) and Paul Johnston (17) combined for a 57 run partnership for the 9th wicket to leave Union with a defendable 135. Thomas Shields had earlier scored 26 to be the top scorer, along with Patterson, for the innings.

St Kevin's found the going difficult, as Union had in its innings, finding themselves 4-17 of 12 over's. They never really recovered all out for 57 runs of 29.4 over's. For Union all bowlers recorded very economical figures with John Crombie once again providing the best figures for the innings of 3-16 of his 8 over's. Thomas Shields (2-7) Michael Ormandy (2-9) and Paul Johnston (2-15) each took 2 wickets while captain Neil Rushton (1-8) took the other.

Union looks to be taking some very good form into the Dick Hunt Holiday Competition.
