The Union Senior team had a close fought 1 wicket victory against Oamaru at Excelsior on Saturday

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the 8 man Oamaru team recorded 144 in 47 over's with Nathan Mitchell (34) and Khalil (29) top scoring. A critical 37 run partnership between David Sewell and Khalil help to move Oamaru to a defendable total. For Union Duncan Drew continued his wicket taking form finishing with 2-24 of ten over's, while Paul Johnston was extremely economical with 2-18 of 8 and after his first five over's taking 2 wickets for 0 runs.

Chasing the Oamaru total, Union was in trouble being 5-51 but a 55 run partnership between Ben Sheat (32) and Johnston soon put the Union side back on track. After the loss of Johnston for 28, Union suffered a collapse losing three wickets for only 8 runs leaving them 132-9 and needing another 13 runs for victory.
