While taking part in the very first Easter Tour in 1928, Hugh scored the first Easter Tour Century, being 104 not out. The Hugh & Jas Robertson Memorial Cup played for between the Union CC and Naseby CC at Easter was purchased by Union in the memory of the two club stalwarts. Served as club president from 1925 to 1934.
