The Union Senior team got their Borton Cup defence back on track today with a 6 wicket win against Waitaki Boys.

After losing the toss and forced to bat, the Waitaki openers moved the total to 25 with out loss however when captain Jordan Horrell fell for 14 this started a major collapse. After Chris Ware lost his wicket for 1 and the score on 29, Union took a team hatrick with Myburg caught and bowled by Conlan, McKenzie run out for a duck and Dickinson completed the hatrick caught by Hamish Robertson at slip. Craig Robertson was then bowled by Crossan, Waitaki losing 6 wickets for 7 runs. Kingan and Todd then combined for the second biggest partnership of the innings with 12, Waitaki then losing their last 4 wickets for 9 runs, all out for a paltry 53. For Union Phil Crossan bowled his 10 over's in one spell finishing with 4-24 including 4 maidens, while Ben Sheat took 2-7. Dan Conlan took two wickets in the team hatrick and ended up with 2-11 of eight over's.

Chasing a low total openers Duncan Drew and Ant Cromwell had 24 quickly on the board before Drew was caught by McKenzie of the bowling of Jordan Horrell. Cromwell then looked to play the anchor of the innings scoring his runs freely before being hit on the knee and retiring hurt for 30 including 6 boundaries, and the team total on 46. Union passed the required total with the loss of four wickets and their first win of the season.
